Electrical fire causes delay for B's Mesquite Grill opening

A fire broke out at the erstwhile home of the Cheese Steak Shop at the Savemart-Longs Center near Hwy. 89/Mousehole in Truckee at 11 p.m. Monday, Truckee Fire Protection District officials said.
The building, still referred to as the "old Burger King" around town, has sat dormant since the closure of the cheese steak restaurant last December.
Bill Flynn of Truckee River Associates, the agency which represents the building's owner, said a new tenant — B's Mesquite Grill owned by Truckee resident Bill Fox — was slated to open later this summer.
"Actually, we had a tenant doing improvements in there as late as yesterday," Flynn said. "We'll repair it."
Truckee Fire investigators said they did not believe foul play was involved. The fire's source was the kitchen."They're working on (the investigation)," Flynn said. "The cause hasn't been determined. It's wiring; it could've been something existing, or what the contractors did."
Fire officials have not come up with an exact damage estimate but speculated it could be six figures.
