Pink Party!
6/30/09, 7:56 am, Staff Report

The Ticker Insider - Hey baby - it's the 4th of July

Staff Report -

Every week, Tahoeticker presents the Tahoe Insider. News, notes and errata which don't necessarily merit making all the pesky phone calls it takes to create a well-crafted story. Feedback? Tips? Email us here. Click here for last week's TI:

Photo of the week: Pink party at the Reno rodeo. Bronk is bucked. Props to photog. Gene Murrieta for getting the bird's eye.

Basin athlete of the week: Truckee's Emma Garrard. The second-year XTERRA pro continued her dominance on the Tahoe City XTERRA course making it a three-peat Saturday; but that's not the best part. Garrard joined 17 others Sunday on an underground mtb 50-mile slog (the Chickadee) from Truckee to Alpine to ...well, wouldn't you like to know. ...Oh, then she went for a little warm-down run in Martis Valley at dusk for good measure. Up next for Garrard: July 11 — XTERRA Northeast Cup; Sugarbush, VT.

Link(s) of the week: Check out Greenposting.org - we know, you're awash in 'green' ...but actual nice tips; worth checking

Get your Truckee float on ...July 2: Thought you had the system beat last year by floating the Truckee on the 3rd — eh? Not so much this year. Placer County'll be shutting down party island (no arm-band/lower-back tats for you)... July 3-5. Placer COunty sheriff's throw down: "Possession of alcoholic beverage containers three feet up from the river's high water mark on each bank, including all islands and bridges. The Fanny Bridge in Tahoe City is the only bridge excluded from the ban."

Party up on Fanny Bridge.

FYI: The ban is in effect on the river from the outfall in Tahoe City at Lake Tahoe to the upstream edge of the Alpine Meadows Bridge. Placer County can regulate the land along portions along the Truckee River. However, the state has jurisdiction over the actual river as it is considered a navigable waterway.
