America - the land of the fat and unaware?!

We are the most overfed, undernourished nation with the most chronic diseases. ...Yet why are we so unaware of our health crisis?!

There is sooo much information about disease and cancer prevention out there that the public is not aware of. Do we want to be ignorant?

I don’t think parents want to outlive their kids, but studies show, the young ones (born 2000 and later) will be the first generation to not outlive their parents.

Why is this?

This nation is getting cancers and terminal diseases at younger and younger ages.

Don’t we have to stop and wonder what has changed since our grandparent’s generation?!

A lot has changed, some things that are out of our control — such as more air pollution, more chemical spraying, and more toxins in our water.

And than there are medical factors: Unfortunately we are generation that was immunized as children and went from there.

I was born at home, with no vaccines, growing up with no processed foods and I — along with my brothers — am healthy as a horse ...no polio or tuberculosis.

But, doctors and hospitals are all recommending, if not forcing vaccines on newborns.

Vaccines in newborns have been proven to cause more problems down the road, so why are they still pushed?

It all comes down to money. Keep this nation sick so that the drug companies can keep thriving, right!

What about dental work?

There was a man named Dr. Weston Price in 1930s traveled the world to study cultures that had not been exposed to an American diet of white flower and sugar. One hundred percent of these cultures had less than one-percent tooth decay, no terminal diseases and ...NO dental hygiene….

If we look at our diet now, it is full of sugar, white flower and processed foods — a trip to the dentist is common starting young.

They are now finally exposing how bad mercury fillings are for the body; how these fillings can cause sicknesses and chronic health issues.

Prescription medication is a quick fix for a problem that has been building up in the body for years.

It starts with one single prescription and a few years later, add another ...and then another. It’s a domino effect.

Prescription meds is another huge money-making industry with strong ties to the FDA, dairy and meat industry.

These are the people who say what is and isn’t a healthy amount of toxins for our body to withstand.

This isn’t who I want telling me what is safe for my body to consumer! Conventional cancer treatments, insulin injections for diabetes, Ritalin for children — this is all accepted as our only options?! So, what can we do, besides become more aware? With all these downer facts, there is hope and changes within our control if we just took the initiative to become informed.

Food is a major major one, because it is part of our daily routine. “Let Your Food be your Medicine, and Your medicine be Your Food” Hippocrates said this and knew even back than that Food is the best form of not only cures, but prevention!

Did you know cancer is preventable?! It’s proven, there are many studies (which are beyond me why they haven’t made the headlines!!)

Diabetes, autoimmune diseases, these are all not only curable, but preventable.

...You look in an American grocery store and 80 percent of our foods are packaged, processed and genetically modified.

This is and has been the staple diet for kids now and young adults, passing this along to their kids. Obesity rates in this nation have skyrocketed in the past 30 years.

Try these states on for size: One in four children are obese, by the age of 12; 70 percent of children have developed the beginning stages of hardening of the arteries; one in three Americans will develop diabetes; one in three woman and one in two men will have cancer in his or her lifetime.

I just learned that genetically modified foods actually physically switch off the part of the brain that says you’re full; this is why you can consumer two cheeseburgers from McDoodoos without a second thought. The FDA claimed (and still made it legal in certain quantities) that genetically modified foods are safe in small quantities, yet they also stated the process of GM foods is taking a safe food and making it toxic. It can create new allergens, lower the nutrition quantity, lower the immune system, cause cancer and create illnesses.

We need to be consuming more fruits and vegetables, less packaged foods, say yes to local and organic. Don’t buy into the “high fructose is OK for you” ads, and become aware.

Don't take my word for it. PLEASE at least look into it for yourselves. And don’t be a typical American slave to the product consumer marketing scams!!

RECIPE FOR THIS WEEK!

A more healthful version of high fat Chocolate Mousse Pie

• 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

• ½ nonfat milk or soy- melt together with chips and keep stirring until well mixed

• 1 package silken tofu

• 1 tsp vanilla

• 1 ½ tsp of agave nectar or honey- put tofu, vanilla and sweetener in blender, mix and than add the chocolate mix.

• 1 ready made graham cracker pie crust (optional) – if using pour ingredients into and chill or 2 hours in fridge, or 30 min. in freezer

Top with sliced strawberries and garnish with mint sprigs

Fun Fact: chocolate contains important antioxidants that help in cancer prevention. Coca also has nearly twice the antioxidants of red wine and 3 times the amount found in green tea!
